Inside the Danish Royal mansion…

Yesterday night we went visit Amalienborg, the Danish Royal palace that is going to be Prince Frederick VIII’s new home. While the mansion is in the process of being repainted and fixed and all that…visitors are allowed to see how the Frederick’s home is going to look…

Every single room features artwork from a selection of Danish contemporary artists, and besides the heavy crystal chandeliers and the gilded ceilings, the mansion looks quite minimalistic.

The photo shows the lamps designed by Olafur Eliasson. Unfortunately we weren’t allowed to take photos, but the stairway looked amazing: the whole concept is being underwater! So the many lamps were like bubbles, and at the very top of the stairs Eliasson created a ceiling that replicates the surface of the water view from…underwater!
