Amarcord

These days I’m quite busy re-writing the first part of my thesis, but I do have something I want to share with you. Last night we went to see Fellini’s movie Amarcord, it was the first time for both of us. The Danish Film Institute is having a big Fellini retrospective, yeah!

I loved the movie – and I would definitely recommend it to who hasn’t seen it. The narrative structure is not its best feature, but the movie is already one of my favourite ever! It’s poetic, visually engaging, a great portrait of Italy during the fascism, and incredibly funny. And the music by Nino Rota is just so good.

Amarcord means ‘I remember’ in dialect – the movie is probably Fellini’s most autobiographic work. It’s from 1973 and it won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. After the photos you will find the American trailer.
