Sweden

of course we saw elks, too! I took this photo at Skansen

I am back from Sweden, where I spent the weekend driving around with my friend Ellen. Unfortunately I got a bad flu when I came back, but now I feel a little better and I’ll just post some photos from the trip.

The photos are mostly from our first stop at Ellen’s summer house, in the countryside around Uppsala (North of Stockholm). Very cold outside! Very dark! So time for “mystigt”, the Swedish hygge. Candles, stew, homemade bread and a nice fireplace.

5 of us were vegetarians, crazy!

The morning after most of the girls preferred to stay indoor around the fireplace…

I went out a bit to see how it was. It was cold, indeed! But nice. This is the house, and the forest right outside.

I didn’t spend more than 20 minutes outdoor. It was a pity, but it was so cozy inside.

In one of the rooms, Ellen’s mom has a loom for weaving carpets. Weaving textiles is a big tradition in Sweden. I wish I could see how it works…

Next, Ellen and I drove to Västerås, where her family lives. We were invited for dinner to celebrate Mårtensafton. So one more cozy candlelight dinner!

The day after we were off to Stockholm, where we visited some nordic animals at Skansen and then went to Fotografiska to see their new exhibitions.

Thanks Ellen for a great weekend. We would love to come spend midsummer up there next year!
